A new name. The same trusted people, expertise, and commitment.
The new name reflects more than five decades of expertise and a growing commitment to making exceptional, personalized learning support accessible to more learners.
VANCOUVER, B.C. — September 2, 2026 — Learn. Develop. Succeed. has changed its name to Lightwell Learning, and its legal charitable name is now Lightwell Learning Society.
The new name reflects the organization’s evolution and its vision to be a centre of excellence in personalized, neuroaffirming learning support for children, youth, and adults with learning and brain-based differences.
“Our name is changing, but the people, expertise, programs, and commitment behind our work are not,” said Rachel S. Forbes, Executive Director of Lightwell Learning. “Lightwell Learning better reflects who we are today, the depth of expertise we bring to our work, and our ambition to make exceptional, individualized support accessible to more learners.”
Founded in 1970 by parents seeking better educational support for their children, the organization has grown over more than five decades into an expert-led, evidence-informed nonprofit serving a growing number of learners and families.
The name Lightwell Learning reflects the organization’s belief that the right support can illuminate a learner’s path forward. A lightwell is intentionally designed to bring natural light into a space. In much the same way, Lightwell Learning brings together specialized expertise, evidence-informed instruction, innovative technology, and a deep understanding of each learner to create personalized pathways that build confidence and unlock potential.
Looking ahead, Lightwell Learning aims to expand access to its expertise across Canada while preserving the personalized, human relationships at the heart of its work.
The organization’s programs, team, and charitable purpose remain unchanged. Beginning September 2, the new Lightwell Learning identity will appear across its website, social channels, communications, signage, and other materials.
