Lydia du Bois

As a case manager, Lydia (she/her) cares deeply about providing universally accessible learning opportunities. The way each person learns is unique. Each person has unique dreams and goals, passions and challenges, life circumstances, and experiences. Lydia loves to help learners and their families and communities reach their educational goals, find joy in learning, and develop confidence in their own judgment while gaining academic skills and knowledge they can take with them into all their future projects.

Lydia has over 17 years of experience in K-12 and post-secondary education and individualized learner support, instructional design, curriculum development, customized resource design, and student advising. Lydia holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin, where her research focused on how communities think about health. She also has a Master’s in Philosophy from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor’s in Classics and Philosophy from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She has worked locally as an individualized education service provider for 8 years, while also teaching classes at SFU and Douglas College.

Lydia enjoys quilling and cuddling her dog, Honey Mustard. She reads comic fantasy and alternative fiction and listens to podcasts about urbanism and design.
