At Lightwell Learning, our one-to-one programs (RISE One-to-One, Teen Mentorship, and Adult Learning Program) use assistive technology (AT) to equip learners with the tools to succeed.  

What is Assistive Technology? 

Assistive technology includes devices, software, or equipment designed to support individuals with disabilities, including learning differences. AT empowers and engages individuals and improves accessibility for our learners.

Our team carefully assesses tools that can benefit and support our student’s learning. These are examples of assistive technology tools our students and families use: 

• Spell check and grammar support for writing: Grammarly, Read&Write 
• Speech to text: Speechify, Word Dictate 
• Reading support: BeeLine Reader, Read&Write 
• Adaptive tools: Large format keyboards, wobble stools, wobble cushions 
• Adaptive math tools: Physical manipulatives, physical calculators, online calculators
